2. Voices of Influence (Speaking Engagements)

Invest in Africa Webinar

On the 5th of June, our founder, Adesuwa Okunbo Rhodes, was a panelist ata webinar hosted by MiDA Advisors and Standard Bank Group. She joined other trailblazing women fund managers to discuss challenges and opportunities in the finance and investment sector and  shared insights on Aruwa’s investment thesis and the compelling long-term investment opportunities in African markets.

Choiseul Africa Summit 2024

Our Founder, Adesuwa (Choiseul 100 Laureate for 2022 and 2023) spoke at the Choiseul Africa Summit in Geneva. Her panel focused on strengthening local value chains and aligning investment strategies with social and environmental goals.

Aruwa Capital Webinar showcasing 3 Portfolio Companies

We hosted a webinar titled “Advancing Growth – Enabling Gender Equity & Inclusive Investment in Africa,” in collaboration with the Mastercard Foundation Africa Growth Fund. Moderated by our Founder Adesuwa Okunbo Rhodes, the session featured Timi Oke from Agroeknor, Natalie Casey from Koolboks, and Priya Amarnani from OmniRetail where they discussed their experience so far with Aruwa Capital and the impact they are having through their business in their communities highlighting job creation and gender diversity.

3. Beyond Our Walls (External Events)

Aruwa Capital at the Manufacturing Africa Investor Breakfast

Aruwa Capital was represented by Kunle Akinola at the Investor Breakfast hosted by Manufacturing Africa in conjunction with British International Investment (BII). The event was organized for select private equity firms in Lagos.

Aruwa Capital at the Endeavor Nigeria Event

Aruwa Capital was represented by Seye Kolawole at the Female Founder Focus event hosted Linda Rottenberg, Co-Founder and CEO of Endeavor, who was visiting Nigeria for the first time.

Aruwa Capital at the USAID and Power Africa Sector Program

Aruwa Capital was represented by Seye Kolawole at Power Sector Investor’s Round table with Mr. Richard Nelson, the Coordinator of the U.S. Government’s Power Africa, to create an avenue to explore collaboration and learn more about Power Africa’s initiatives across Africa and future investment in Nigeria’s energy sector program.

Aruwa Capital at the USAID Investor Pitch Competition

Aruwa Capital was represented by Tosin Olasoji at the Growing Green Jobs for Women Investor pitch competition organized in partnership with All On, the African Climate Foundation, and the Nigeria Off-grid Market Acceleration Program (NoMAP), to increase dialogue among women-led/owned off-grid energy companies and investors.

Aruwa Capital at the 100 Women in Finance Conference 

Aruwa Capital was represented by Nofan Obieromah – Investment Associate, Seye Kolawole – Investment & Portfolio Manager and Kusumi Said- EA to the CEO, at the first year anniversary event for 100 Women In Finance (100WF) in Nigeria,themed “Empower the Leader Within”, which featured Opunimi Akinkugbe as the keynote speaker.

5. Birthday Cheers

Happy Birthday to Tosin and Nofan!

Tosin Olasoji, our dedicated Investment Analyst and Portfolio Manager, celebrated his birthday on June 25, 2024 and Nofan Obieromah, our committed Investment Associate, marked hers on July 20, 2024. We wish them both a year filled with success, joy, and continued growth.

PEWIN Pinnacle Event

In September, our founder, Adesuwa Okunbo Rhodes, will be speaking at the PEWIN Pinnacle event in New York. She will join the Pinklight Panel to discuss”The Global Landscape for Female Founders,” alongside Adele C. Olivia (Founder of 1315 Capital), Ingrid Tegland Akay (Founder of Hadean Ventures),and Marilyn Adler (Founder of Mizzen Capital).

Women’s Private Equity Summit Europe

Our founder, Adesuwa Okunbo Rhodes, will be speaking at the at the Women’s Private Equity Summit Europe – Investing in Africa Forum, due to be held from 25th

September at the Fairmont Windsor Park. This is the first Investing in Africa forum and the organisers specifically reached out to Adesuwa to curate the event. She will be speaking on a panel “The Rudiments in Fundraising an African Fund” to discuss proven strategies to navigate the challenges in raising an African fund.

7. Looking Forward (H2 outlook)

First close for Fund II

We are working diligently behind the scenes to amplify our impact on the financial landscape. Watch out for news regarding our first close of Aruwa Capital Fund II very soon. As we enter the second half of the year, our primary focus is on reaching the final close for Aruwa Fund II.
